USCIS Tightens H-1B Visa Restrictions

Recently, there have been a lot of changes made to various aspects of immigration policy in the United States. There are a number of measures being taken in order to make sure that there is no fraud occurring in the recruiting process. The current administration feels as though many American citizens are being overlooked for the positions that are being given to foreign workers. In order to make sure that foreign workers are only recruited if there are truly not enough qualified American workers in that field.

The USCIS will conduct investigations on businesses to make sure that employers are not abusing the program. They will conduct random visits to businesses that have a high number of H-1B employees and determine whether employers are making an effort to recruit American workers. In addition, the USCIS has set up an email address that can allow people who suspect that employers are abusing the H-1B system to report any suspicions.

The USCIS will also look to determine whether the H-1B employees are abiding by all of their visa requirements during the time that they work here. If they believe that there is fraudulent behavior taking place, the USCIS will report the abuse to the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and possibly even the Department of Labor.
