What is required for naturalization?
When individuals have the option to become naturalized as a citizen of the United States, they have to meet certain requirements. Some individuals can meet the requirement of living in the U.S. for the past five years with a status as a permanent resident. Another option for eligibility allows immigrants to have lived in the country for four years due to the need for asylum.

Also, if you have lived in the U.S. for three years, are a lawful permanent resident and have served in the military, you have the opportunity to apply for citizenship.
